People keep asking us; Equinity is mad and beautiful and brilliant, why don’t you host it outside of racing? Our answer; Equinity is all about the horse and horseracing. And more specifically it is about racing at night. That is the space we love. The blue sea in which we choose to operate.
Offending with the best of intentions.
When we launched Meoquanee, we were almost immediately attacked via social media (where else) of being insensitive, politically incorrect and offensive. It was only our second Equinity production and our young team weren’t expecting to be attacked when we proudly introduced our new baby to the world.
Focusing on our people.
After 5 good years of riding the Sani2sea I wont be going back to ride the race again. The race is no longer for me.Charity is not why I ride. I respect it. I admire it. I applaud it and I support it. But that’s not why I enter the race. I enter the race to ride. To be fit and train. To be challenged. To see parts of the country I would never see.
Lessons on large scale events from the mountain biking Farmer Glen.
Over the last 12 years we have gone from a small agency working on bespoke corporate events to being the implementer’s of the biggest horse racing events in Gauteng. Other than a few years of building and running the Magaliesberg Country Classic Festival, we had little knowledge of what it would take to run large scale events.
The real reason horseracing events are dead or dying in SA.
There are countless opinion pieces, articles, letters and comments lamenting the small or non-existent crowds at racing events in SA and offering well-meaning advice or criticism.
A little rejection can be a big motivation.
‘Do more for less’ is corporate speak for those who don’t have a vision or plan for growth and prosperity. We believe in more with more for more. We want bigger budgets for our growing projects.
